Sample use of Qoate plugin

This is a sample post with ‘hello’ between the code tags:

hello

The above section was created via http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/qoate-simple-code-snippets/ .

Many thanks Danny van Kooten for looking into this issue and for the great work!

Continue reading for the wonderful experience with this plugin and the amazing help from the developer!

I’ve been looking for a simple and easy way to share code snippets with my readers.  The above plugin matched my criteria of simple to use with a clean display.

Activating the plugin (version 1.2.3) on my WordPress (3.0.1) installation, however, promptly returned an error message “htmlspecialchars() expects at most 3 parameters, 4 given“.

Just for kicks, I decided to contact the developer via Twitter. (note: This one of the most amazing experienced that I’ve had using Twitter so far. I may star using the service more often!)

Although he is based in the Netherlands, Danny quickly replied with a new installation package for me to test. After a couple of very quick iterations, the code snippet plugin worked with out issues!

Now, I have a way to share my ABAP code snippets, my readers can download code that has been tested, and Danny has an updated plugin (to accomodate PHP versions < 5.2.3). All this was done in the span of a few ‘tweets’.

Amazing!

Update on 8/25/2010: I wrote to Danny this morning about a small bug in version 1.2.3 where the block/paragraph formatting disappeared on single posts. He quickly replied with an update (version 2.0) that fixed the issue. Quickness! Someone, hire this guy!
